Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

You need to book in by the Friday before the activity. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

COVID-19 Guidelines.

It is our intention to make our activities safe, enjoyable, and compliant with current COVID safe guidelines. Please Note:
- If you have cold or flu like symptoms then stay home.
- Participation is at the discretion of the activity leader.
- Car pooling permitted, but at the discretion of each driver.
- Please bring a face mask in case this is required to complete the activity.
- Appropriate use of hand sanitiser is strongly encouraged.
- Please follow any social distancing guidelines which may apply during the activity.
If in doubt, request clarification from the activity leader.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance: Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Introductory or easy.
2 - Moderate difficulty.
3 - Challenging. For regular, fitter walkers.
4 - Strenous. Fit, experienced walkers only.
5 - Advanced. Difficult walks for experienced, fit, self sufficient walkers.

Sat 10 Illawarra Bike Ride.
Distance about 28kms. Start at Sandon Point and ride to Wollongong Harbour and return along the Coastal Shared Pathway/ Bike track.Morning tea/coffee break at one of the numerous cafes on route. Lunch in Lang Park (bring lunch or purchase at nearby café ). Easy bike ride on a mostly flat bike track at a relaxed pace. Sat 10 Western Sydney Parklands – Aboriginal Art Trail.
Gabrugal Yana is a new walk in the Western Sydney Parkland. It is an 11km return walk from Wylde Mount Bike & BMX hub in Cecil Park and winds through the Cumberland Plain woodland to Middleton Grange. The walk celebrates local Dharug Aboriginal culture by transforming 6 landmark trees into Aboriginal artworks that represent Dharug seasons. Some hills and grass tracks.

Sun 18 Dahlia Creek, Dharawal NP.
Explore an area of Dharawal National Park near Darkes Forest. Visit a stunning shale forest community and then descend to a creek in upper catchment of O'Hares Creek. Depending on group we may do ridge top walk to a lookout. Rough track or fire trail along route. Will suit fitter more active walkers. May be limited number.

Sat 24 Wolli Creek to Brighton Le Sands.
Relaxing, easy mostly-flat wander through back streets and parks. Final leg along Botany Bay foreshore. Lunch at RSL at the completion of the walk if desired (ID required). Public transport so bring Opal Card.

Sat 31 Centennial Park Wildlife & Heritage Walk.
Centennial Park is not only one of Australia’s best known Parklands but one of the most historic. Explore the historical features and discover some of the wildlife in Centennial Park. Take the Light Rail from Central to Centennial Park. Easy paced walk on paths. Don’t forget you Opal Card.

Medium grade walk of about 8km along an attractive section of coast. Some short climbs but no really steep sections. Finish with lunch in friendly Kiama. Return to Minnamurra by train, Bring opal card.

Complete a scenic and inviting section of the recently opened Great Clifftop Walk in Upper mountains. After a quick cuppa in lovely Leura we will venture down to visit a series of lovely cascades in the rainforest. Walk finishes at Echo Point at Katoomba. Opal Card required to complete circuit.

Sun 27 Grand Clifftop Walk - Wentworth Falls.
Commencing in Wentworth Falls township, visit the first section of the newly-opened Grand Clifftop walk. This section includes the historic Charles Darwin Walk and visits the scenic escarpment of Wentworth Falls. Hoping to unwind at a great coffee shop at the end.

Wed 30 Grand Canyon Circuit - Blackheath.
Breathtaking scenery, rainforest, spectacular 6.3km canyon walk in the upper mountains. This popular walk includes 350 metre descent and 350 metre ascent and is suited to fitter, stronger walkers.
