Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

You need to book in by the Friday before the activity. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

COVID-19 Guidelines.

It is our intention to make our activities safe, enjoyable, and compliant with current COVID safe guidelines. Please Note:
- If you have cold or flu like symptoms then stay home.
- Participation is at the discretion of the activity leader.
- Car pooling permitted, but at the discretion of each driver.
- Please bring a face mask in case this is required to complete the activity.
- Appropriate use of hand sanitiser is strongly encouraged.
- Please follow any social distancing guidelines which may apply during the activity.
If in doubt, request clarification from the activity leader.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance: Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Introductory or easy.
2 - Moderate difficulty.
3 - Challenging. For regular, fitter walkers.
4 - Strenous. Fit, experienced walkers only.
5 - Advanced. Difficult walks for experienced, fit, self sufficient walkers.

Sun 20 Pagoda Track (Dry Slot Canyon).
Short but challenging walk to visit a stunning secret canyon near Lithgow. Will suit confident experienced walkers. 1-2 short scrambles to reach destination and some navigational skill. Route potentially overgrown. If we complete walk early we may have opportunity to visit nearby Glow Worm Tunnel. AWD may be advised for car pool. Early start.

Sun 17 Grays Point to Audley.
Medium 6km walk from Grays Point to Audley and return. Includes a 200m descent with some scrambling but not technically difficult. Mostly wide, clear trails. Wander along the Hacking River on way and a "coast home" along a ridge. Picnic tables and a kiosk at Audley.

Historic and scenic walk on the Western side of Blackheath with views of the Megalong Valley, cascades and many highlights. One of oldest tracks in the upper mountains. Mainly tracks but some street walking

Short but steep walk to delightful Jingga Pool on recently upgraded track. Jingga means 'sweet water' and you will discover why on a visit to this pristine local gem. If time permits plan to visit other attractions in the area.

Explore a pretty section of the harbour foreshore on 8km walk. Includes Balls Head, Coal loader area and Berry Island. Nice forested section and an indigenous art site. Limited number, bring Opal card. Note this is a Saturday activity. Easy/medium walk.

Walk through the historic Rocks precinct from Customs House. Approximate distance is 5km. Visiting Observatory Hill and Walsh Bay with numerous points of interest. Bring Opal Card.

Sun 29 Dharawal National Park to Darkes Forest.
From the Appin Rd near Bulli Tops great undulating walk of about 12-15km mainly on fire trail to visit Apple Shack Orchard at Darkes Forest. Opportunity to purchase fruit, jams, cider and more. Bush track section on the way with pretty Gymea lilies which should be flowering. Also visit Maddens Falls.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
