Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

You need to book in by the Friday before the activity. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

- Contact Activity Leaders on the numbers quoted. NO text unless specifically stated.
- Public Transport – don’t forget your Opal Card.
- Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Members only special event. Twilight walk along Boxvale Track at Welby. Leave Campbelltown late afternoon, walk to lookout, relaxed dinner at lookout (BYO dinner), then return to cars by torchlight. No torch, no walk.

Michael's pick as the best day walk in the Nattai. 12km undulating walk (steepest section is at the start of the walk). Spectacular lookouts over the Nattai River and surrounding tablelands (you will be impressed).

Flat easy walk on paths along part of the Bay to Bay Cycleway. Through bushland, along river and beachfronts. Short roadside section. Public transport.

Sun 26 Dharawal NP - Matilda Tank.
Visit the WW2 Matilda Tank in Dharawal NP. All on footpads and fire trails with a short off-track section through scrub. 12-15km depends on route, undulating with a couple of short steep bits, and one easy creek crossing. Members only.

Various bushwalking tracks set amongst 40 hectares of native forest in the West Pennant Hills area. Café and plant nursery on site. An all day outing by public transport.

Exploratory walk to see if we can locate the abandoned WW2 anti-tank training range in the Royal National Park near Curracurrong Creek (Eagle Rock area). Should be less than 10km but we may do some side trips as well. Along the Coast Track with an off-track section through heath. Limited numbers, members only.

An easy/medium walk on bush tracks along the Illawarra Escarpment up to a panoramic lookout. Then drive down to North Wollongong for fish and chips lunch.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
