Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

It is essential you book-in by mid-week. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book-in early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

- Public Transport – don’t forget your Opal Card.
- Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Return trip to explore more abandoned trails on the eastern side of Long Nose Ridge Rd in Nattai NP. Anywhere from 10 to 20km depends on how far we can explore. Early start. Limited numbers. Members only. Previous off-track experience preferred.

The walk from Zoo wharf to Cremorne wharf past Little Sirius Point, and Mosman Bay with picturesque views across the harbour. Some steps. Public transport don't forget your Opal card.

Sun 26 Megalong Valley to Coxs River Suspension Bridge.
Traverse a popular section of the historic Six Foot Track from Ford's Crossing in the Megalong Valley. Destination is a remarkable pedestrian suspension bridge over the Cox's River and an especially pretty part of the valley.

Sun 2 Circling and Summiting Mount Kembla.
Enjoy scenic views to the south coast from the 534m summit of Mt Kembla and then complete the track that circles the mountain, passing a number of historic mining features. 180m ascent / descent.

Sun 9 Illawarra Escarpment Lookouts.
Fairly level walk from Sublime Point to Bulli Lookout and back again, and then further north taking in some more spectacular views up and down the coast. This walk does not involve any steep descents.

Dome Track - Chasm Lookout - Rocky Waterholes Ck Lookout - Point Hill. Recon walk in Nattai NP to check out this loop for a future club walk. Small group size. All on track. Estimated 12-15km distance.

Sun 30 Manly to North Head Circuit.
Walk from Ferry wharf at Manly to Shelly Beach, then short climb up onto North Head. Visit Historic Army Precinct then take in the Fairfax lookouts for fabulous views of Sydney Harbour and hopefully spot a few whales. Bring lunch or buy from cafe at the halfway point. Return to Manly via Collins Beach. Public transport don't forget your opal cards.

Long walk in Heathcote NP. Waterfall - Bullawarring Track - Goanna Track - Powerline Track - Pipeline Rd - Girronba Ridge (off-track) - Booberra Pool Track and return (sans off-track section). Approx 2-3km moderate off track section. Lots of hills and some rough track. Medium group size. Experienced MEMBERS only. Quick pace. If we have time we may do a side trip to look for Todd's Hut.

Easy flat 8.1 km walk; The Ferry Journey from Circular Quay to the Olympic Park Ferry Wharf starts off the activity. The walk commences at the wharf, and starts by following the Parramatta River to the Old Navy Armoury at Newington, etc....Public transport don't forget your Opal cards.

Sun 11 Cape Bailey Lighthouse.
Walk from the Discovery Centre in the Botany Bay national park, the walk is on road past Cape Salamanda views across the bay (possible whale sightings), over sand dunes to the Lighthouse and back through bush to the discovery centre.

Approx 16km walk around the north eastern corner of the RNP. Bundeena - Jibbon Head - The Cobblers - The Waterrun - Wedding Cake Rock - Marley Beach - shorter return to Bundeena. Undulating coastal walk. Aboriginal engraving sites. Spectacular views.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
