This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

It is essential you book-in by mid-week. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book-in early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

Long, varied walk in Dharawal NP. 3 x creek crossings (one crossing calf deep), fire trail, rough/overgrown tracks, 500m off track section. Over 15km all up, experienced walkers.

A 5km circuit walk on tracks around Jew Fish Bay and Lime Kiln Bays. Diverse bushland, some wildflowers ahould be out. Sandstone cliffs and wetlands. Short steep section.

Sun 9 Wollstonecraft to McMahon's Point.
This walk includes Berry Island and Balls Head Reserve. Some tracks are steep, narrow, uneven, and rocky with tree roots. Also, creek crossings, lots of stairs, easy footpaths, and flat sandy tracks. Nice scenic photo opportunities of the bush and harbour. Public transport, Opal cards please.

Sun 16 Taffys Rock - Ku-ring-gai Chase NP.
Challenging walk to spectacular lookout with 360 degree views. Early start. Approx 16km. Undulating walk, includes 2 x 200m ascents (and descents). Vehicle cost $80 per car (includes 2 x M7 and M2 tolls). Medium sized group. Members only.

Sun 16 Hidden in Rookwood.
Now in its 10th year this exhibition is set amongst gardens and graves in one of the oldest sections of the cemetery. Sculptures of history, remembrance and love are depicted by the artists. Public transport don't forget your opal cards.

Sun 23 Mount Hay Rd to Lockley Pylon lookout.
Easy-medium walk across scenic plateau to stunning lookout lunch spot overlooking Grose Valley. Access road slightly rough but considered fine for 2WD vehicles in dry weather.

Sun 30 Ku-ring-gai Widlfower Garden.
Features 8 walks from Easy Senses Track to the 3km hard Mueller Track. Full day out in the St Ives area. Minimum requirement: Must be able to walk 1 kilometre on flat footpath. Public transport opal cards please.

Easy walk along well graded path to delightful lunch spot at Little Marley Beach. Lots of flowers blooming in springtime, great coastal scenery!

Sun 21 Sculptures by the Sea.
The annual exhibition is held between Bondi & Tamarama on the coastal walkway. Leave the walk at Bronte for home, return to Bondi or continue to Coogee Beach for lunch. Public transport, opal cards please.

Sun 28 Brooklyn - Dangar Island.
Arrive at Brooklyn then catch the private ferry. Fare for adults $7.70 and concession is $3.90 EACH WAY to Dangar Island. After a nice quiet stroll around the small island head back on the ferry to Brooklyn for a fish'n'chips lunch. Afterwards a wander around town before heading home. A few hilly bits.
Public transport, don't forget your opal card.

9km circuit through dense heathland around a hanging swamp plateau encircled by precipitous cliffs. Panoramic views across Jamberoo Valley. Natural stone bridge across creek. A wide range of wildflowers should still be out.

Sun 11 Minnamurra Rainforest Walk.
5 kilometres in length on well graded walkways with some short steep climbs to the upper waterfalls. Great rainforest with some very impressive trees. Bring some lunch or buy a meal at the Cafe/ Kiosk. There is a $12.00 vehicle entry fee.

Picturesque walk along a lovely and historic section of the harbour foreshore. Transport on trains, bus and ferry. Bring your Opal card.

Sat 24 Twilight/Night Bushwalk - Dharawal NP.
After the success of our night walk earlier this year we will head out to do another one. <10km walk along fire trails and tracks in Dharawal NP. Visit Minverva Pool (may be dark by then). Enjoy the sights and sounds of the bush at night. Must have working torch. No torch, no walk.

NOTE: Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
