Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

It is essential you book-in by mid-week. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book-in early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

Sun 11 Curra Moors Track.
A challenging 10 kilometre walk through heath and waterfalls. The Curra Moors loop track offers scenic sandstone cliff and coastal views, waterfalls and great birdwatching. Park entry fees apply.

Sun 18 Little River - Buxton.
A short walk in a pretty sandstone gorge in Bargo Conservation Area.  Track may be eroded and steep in parts. Swim or paddle opportunity.

Sun 25 Forest Track - Illawarra Escarpment.
12km walk along the escarpment from Maddens Plain to above Stanwell Park and return. Lots of spectacular coastal views.

See the works of the Archibald Prize finalists of 2017 locally during its regional tour at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. Free entry. Members Only. Public transport.

Sat 31 Blue Moon Walk.
Celebrate a rare 2nd Blue Moon in one calender year by walking local trails/tracks by torchlight. Walk starts in the early evening and will finish into the night. Must bring working torch (no torch, no walk). Mostly fire trails but some bush tracks.

A large picturesque waterfall created by a large rock shelf. The waterfall had a large pool at its base which is an ideal place to get your toes wet if it has been raining prior. Stopping at Anice Falls also. 7km. Bring NPWS Parks pass.

Easy 5-6km walk through Bloodwood Forest to visit cliff overhang engraved "Dobson 1917". Short steep section to Little River and return.

Sun 20 Parramatta River Walk - Huntleys Point to Meadowbank Wharf.
10km on paths and tracks from Huntleys Point Wharf near Gladesville Bridge, along the northern side of the river, Gladesville Hospital grounds, Banjo Paterson Restaurant, Glades Bay, Aboriginal rock carvings and interpretive signage, Putney Park and Shepherds Bay to Meadowbank Wharf. PUBLIC TRANSPORT - Train and Rivercat.

Visiting Nerrigorang Picnic area through ancient forest, past various lakes and ruins. Approx. 8km of undulating tracks.

NOTE: Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
