This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

It is essential you book-in by mid-week. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book-in early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

Sun 3 Heathcote to Waterfall - Heathcote NP.
Relaxed summer walk through a pretty valley featuring a number of natural pools and wildflowers along Heathcote Creek. This walk is a point to point walk from Heathcote to Waterfall. At end of walk we will need to return to our start point on the train. Public transport so don't forget your Opal cards.

Sun 10 Karloo Pool - Royal National Park.
Karloo Pools, a set of natural waterholes, lies at the junction of Kangaroo Creek, Heathcote Brook and the Karloo Walking Track. The track is a maintained mix of sandy bush track and some steep sandstone sections. Just before you start to descend, the walk offers fantastic views of the surrounding bushland of the valley below and to the south east from the ridge. The rock ledges near the pools (especially after a swim) can sometimes be slippery..

Sun 17 Cave Creek Tunnel - Hill Top.
Short morning walk to natural creek cave. Good track to both ends of cave. Bring torch for optional cave explore. One short metal ladder to access western cave entrance.

Sun 24 Empire Pass and Dantes Glen - Lawson.
Idyllic summer walk through delightful shaded valley in the heart of the Blue Mountains. Spectacular forest and pretty cascades.

Visit Manly for morning tea, a short beach stroll & Manly Art Gallery. Then head to Rozelle Collectors Markets. After Rozelle Markets our final stop will be Harold Park Tram sheds with many lunch options. Stay & eat in or head to the park. Easy day out. Public transport don't forget your Opal cards.

Sun 10 Historic Explorers Roads near Mt York.
Walk along some of the original roads in the footsteps of pioneers allowing passage across the Blue Mountains. Learn more about the colourful history of this important historic area. Pretty area with great views.

Sun 17 Homebush Bay to Olympic Park Station.
Easy flat 8.1 km walk; The Ferry Journey from Circular Quay to the Olympic Park Ferry Wharf starts off the activity. The walk commences at the wharf, and starts by following the Parramatta River to the Old Navy Armoury at Newington, etc...

Four Mile Ck area and the western side of Stokes Ck. Approx 13km loop walk around north western part of Dharawal NP. Rarely visited area so tracks and trails will be overgrown.

Two (2) fascinating and scenic walks in the Namadgi National Park to an indigenous art site and a spectacular lookout over Canberra. Plenty of time to see galleries, museums or other attractions in the Capital. Range of accommodation options are available.

Sun 7 Brooklyn and Dangar Island.
Arrive at Brooklyn then catch the private ferry. Fare for adults $8.10 and concession is $4.10 EACH WAY to Dangar Island. Walk around this small island or sit at the waterfront cafe and enjoy the view. Head back on the ferry to Brooklyn for lunch. Afterwards a wander around town before heading home. A few hilly bits. Public transport don't forget your Opal card.

Sun 28 Garrawarra Farm to Garie Beach, RNP.
Interesting walk in the Royal National Park. Garrawarra Ridge Trail - Coastal Track - Burning Palms - Era - Garie Beach. Several hilly points to go over, lots of steps, some boardwalks and bush tracks. Walk past unique cabin communities. Short car shuffle. Bring NPWS Pass if you have one.

Return trip to explore more abandoned trails on the eastern side of Long Nose Ridge Rd in Nattai NP. Anywhere from 10 to 20km depends on how far we can explore. Limited numbers. Members only. Previous off-track experience preferred.

Sun 26 Megalong Valley to Coxs River Suspension Bridge.
Traverse a popular section of the historic Six Foot Track from Ford's Crossing in the Megalong Valley. Destination is a remarkable pedestrian suspension bridge over the Cox's River and an especially pretty part of the valley.

NOTE: Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
