Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

It is essential you make your booking by mid-week, then you must call the Leader the evening before to confirm your participation and be advised if any changes to the planned activity have occurred. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending. Failure to get in early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our guidelines page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Walk Leader when booking-in.

Sun 7 Minnamurra Falls.
Enjoy a stroll in the Warm Temperate Rainforest at Minnamurra Falls near Jamberoo. The "Rainforest Loop Walk" is 1.6kms and the walk to the falls is an optional 2.6 kms more and is well worth the effort. No need to carry lunch as there is a picnic area near the car park and a cafe which provides light meals and refreshments.

A varied walk in RNP. Heath, vegetation and subtropical rainforest with city views. Good beginners walk.

Sat 27 Wolli Creek and Surrounds
Starting at Bardwell Park railway station we will walk to Girrahween Park. Then on to Nannygoat Hill and Banks road reserve. We then join the Cooks river cycleway to Wolli creek station. Some steep hills along the way.

A well defined 9km track with some steep sections but not too hard. Possible mid walk swim.

Sun 14 Mt Annan Challenge walk
Not an official club activity but popular with many members who take part. Club members who are either entrants or just spectators can choose to meet for a social gathering by the lake after the race.
   
Sat 20 "Spelling Bee" - Corrimal Theatre.
Helen has booked approx 16 tickets for the popular Arcadian Theatre Groups latest production. Tickets $20 max. Meet Catholic Club 5pm. Chinese meal at club opposite theatre. Must book by 6th March LATEST. Note - Rino is the contact for this event.

A stroll around the picturesque lakes and parks finishing with a picnic lunch.

A beautiful 11km walk on track around Crag and Castle Coves. Ferns, palms, casuarinas, grass trees, mangroves and creeks. Lookouts over Middle Harbour. Steps!

12km circuit. Down Palm Jungle Track to Burning Palms Beach, then return via steep ascent to Garawarra and along ridge. Great coastal views.

The new 12km walk from Werri Lagoon to Kiama Heights and return. Coast hugging on rolling hills. Exposed cliffs, boulder beaches and rock platforms. North/south views.

Get a taste of the highlands at Bundanoon as it transforms into the mythical town of Brigadoon.

Sun 18 Little Mountain and Bents Basin.
A circuit walk which starts by ascending the forested ridge of Little Mountain through Guiguer Nature Reserve and returns by making a circuit of the basin itself.
Small park entrance fee.

Sun 25 Lidcombe to Wolli Creek - Anzac Day Walk.
Tour of war graves at Rookwood, then walk along the Cooks River Cycleway through urban bushland to Wolli Creek. Long walk but flat.

Descending to 40 Foot Falls from the Box Vale Track to a picturesque walk on both sides of the Nattai River. Steep ascent up the incline. Gloves recommended.

A circuit walk around the inland lakes of Thirlmere Lakes National Park. Starting near Couridjah all on track on or near the lakes foreshores.

Approx 10km around Sydney Harbour's south eastern foreshores. Including Hermitage Foreshore walk and Parsley Bay Reserve. Tracks and paths. Remnant forest, beaches, historic houses and harbour views.

Excellent campground right on the water at Patonga. Hot showers, flush toilets, laundry, shops and pub nearby, large campsites, security guard at night, right on the beach, fishing and lots of walking opportunities.

8km circuit all on track through rainforest/ferns following a creek to interesting hand stencils at Red Hands Cave.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance (small roundabout not shown on linked map) and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map. Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the club, please don't just show up on the day as the Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the event.
