Activities Program

This page contains information about the Mountain Devils bushwalking and social activities program.

You need to book in by the Friday before the activity. Leaders may place limits on the numbers attending and failure to book early can result in missing out on a place or the activity not proceeding. Also, if you print this list out and stick it on the fridge please don't forget to check back here for any changes that may have occurred.

Walk Grading Guide.

Distance:Terrain:
A - 0 to 5km's.
B - > 5 to 10km's.
C - > 10 to 15km's.
D - > 15 to 20km's.
E - > 20km's.
1 - Graded track, some incline.
2 - Graded track, hills, creek crossings.
3 - Rough track, steep sections, creek crossings.
4 - Off-track, moderate.
5 - Off-track, hard.
6 - Rock scrambling, exposure to heights.

For further information on walk gradings please refer to our "Walk Grading" page, or if further clarification is required then discuss this with the Activity Leader when booking-in.

- Contact Activity Leaders on the numbers quoted. NO text unless specifically stated.
- Public Transport – don’t forget your Opal Card.
- Entry fees apply to walks in the some National Parks. Members with an NPWS Exemption Card should bring it along.

Easy flat 8.1 km walk; The Ferry Journey from Circular Quay to the Olympic Park Ferry Wharf starts off the activity. The walk commences at the wharf, and starts by following the Parramatta River to the Old Navy Armoury at Newington, etc....Public transport don't forget your Opal cards.

A 5km approx. Undulating walk in Wentworth Falls with pretty waterfalls, sandstone overhangs and lookouts. Some steps.

Sun 18 Govetts Leap to Evans Lookout via Junction Rock.
Spectacular but physically demanding classic walk in the Grose Valley at Blackheath. Experienced, fit members only. Limited number, early start.

Sun 25 Maroubra to Bondi.
This 8km coastal walk is mostly on footpaths and includes stairs, inclines and rock hopping. Public transport don't forget your Opal cards.

Sun 25 Royal National Park - North Eastern Loop.
Approx 16km walk around the north eastern corner of the RNP. Bundeena - Jibbon Head - The Cobblers - The Waterrun - Wedding Cake Rock - Marley Beach - shorter return to Bundeena. Undulating coastal walk. Aboriginal engraving sites. Spectacular views.

Visit the abandoned Matilda Tank on OHares Ck in Dharawal NP. Combination of footpads, firetrails, and a short off-track section through some scrub to the tank. Members only. If we have time we may off-track further along OHares Ck to one of the leaders favourite spots deep in Dharawal NP.

Scenic loop through woodlands, gullies and rainforest. Bring torch to explore Mass Cave. Then Yellow Track loop to lookout.

Short (6km) but challenging walk in the lower Blue Mountains (Glenbrook). Steep descent and ascent on a rough track with exposed rock scrambles. Rock slabs and scrub along creek, possible wet feet at creek crossings. Limited numbers. Experienced members only.

Forest and heath covered ridges. Creeks and ponds. 11km all on bush track to Hornsby. 270m ascent/descent. A popular section of the Great North Walk. Public transport.

Most club activities start from The Catholic Club carpark, access the club carpark from the Camden Rd entrance and park in the first carpark area on the left. Link to meeting spot location map.
Please check with the Leader for the departure time from the designated meeting spot, please don't just "show up on the day" as our Activity Leaders need to know the number of likely participants before the activity.
